Introducing Music & Meditation

I wanted to see what reaction I got from introducing the music & meditation to Noa and Louka...I used to play a lot of meditation tapes to Sargeant and Cinnabar- Hawkeye and Radar when they first arrived. Always the relaxation they showed was instant...even Mae my dog relaxes when she hears the meditation music.

Here is Sargeant having a massage from Del- the music was going and we were all in tune with that healing energy...  I think he is in total relaxation - but totally focusing on his back

I have started the walking in their area (5 acre paddock)with a willow which is very rhythmicle- Sargeant is very inquisitive and is right there to have a look - I am able to move him over with just a look now....the dogs Mae and Floss come for the walk with me...The first time I did this Gypsy came over and took the willow stick from my hand and bit it in half....I went back to the willow tree and got another cane from it- fed the leaves to her and she meandered along beside me after that - interestingly each time I go into the paddock she stays further away and just meanders over after a little while- but I notice that her ear is on me the whole time.
When the 2 dogs and Sargeant and myself went over to the willow tree by the drain and watched some ducks and pukeko's playing in the water in no time at all Gypsy was beside us as well- Lovely feeling having the whole caboosh at liberty wandering around the paddock

When I went into the paddock with Noa and Louka - Noa just stands and watches and waits for me to come as close to him as I can.....rhythmically swayiing the willow from side to side....he doesn't worry whether it is up in the air or where ever - I can stroke him all over with the willow at liberty in the paddock and he just loves it......LOUKA comes running over to see what's happening and doesn't mind the rhythmical swaying of the willow but  he doesn't want me to stroke him with it at his back end - he allows it over his mane but then just moves off when I want to stroke him anywhere else....he is quite ok if I touch him-especially stroke my hands down his face-under the chin-over his back....but in this paddock exercise I am concentrating on moving them away when I want to- but first they have to accept me in their paddock...Neither of them don't seem to have a problem with this....I have sat in their paddock on many occasions and have just been there with them, so that's most likely why...

  1. Kathy you are doing so well with all your horses - what a good idea to play the music - interesting it works for Mae too. Isn't it a lovely feeling when everyone wants to be with you at liberty - we are so lucky!!
    Thanks for being an inspiration.

  2. Thanks Jane- yes I feel that they are coming along nicely- have had no time this week for very much at all...school holidays X 3 children X wet weather...although all have been incredibly good...Louka loves to watch the children, but Noa loves to be with them- very interesting Louka always watches first while Noa is right in there boots and all...Louka is now prioving to be the braver of the two- he strides on over to take a look at things while Noa who used to be in charge hangs back to see what Louka thinks...Since Louka has put on some condition and is growing at a faster pace than Noa now he seems to be in charge a lot more...They are becoming quite colty now- it must be spring even if it feels like winter...Hope you and all yours are doing well...I am going to be the eyes for the EGALA sessions on a wednesday morning for 9 weeks...hope I can do it justice...we'll see- XX
