Both of these boys have been drenched today- I have been giving them molasses in a syringe for a little while now, and I didn't have any problem giving them the drench this morning....I dipped the end into molasses then they took the drench as good as gold then just licked the molasses off the end of the syringe when they had finished. GROOMING: I decided to see how they were in the stall while I groomed them-No halters- Noa just revelled in the brushes on his back while Louka allowed me to do his face and forlock- then eventually his mane and along his shoulders- both sides were fine till we reached his legs- some days he is still very protective of his legs and butt...so I didn't push him- he looks quite cute hairless in front and still hanging onto the foal hair at the rear..funny fella....He is quite different if the halter is on, but he doesn't like the halter on if he is confined to the stall. We'll do that at his pace- once he is ready he'll let me know.
His muzzle is changing colour quite rapidly now as the winter hair is coming out- it is very fine and a creamy colour- notice it around his nostrils? Looks as though it's going to be that colour underneath the chestnut on his face...we'll see.
Louka is much more relaxed now comes to me voluntarily now & follows me around a lot more....and Noa well he is the ultimate Mister Laid Back, winnies out to me when he knows I am coming now- feed or not. Neither of them are likely to kick- they are just so accepting of most things if I don't pressure them . As a friend said
"Any thought that WE have that our horse/pony is not good enough- THEY feel the pressure-But when you get pleasure from the lessons learnt, and only focus on that- it's all progress and leads to much bigger and better things - one step at a time...thankyou Jane/ Vicky
